PART 4
WHAT IS (REAL LIFE/MINISTRY, AUTHORITY) WITCHCRAFT?
Refreshing Part 2: “NOT SPOOKED A BIT ” The Informed Church in Victory: Balancing Perspective: Keeping it the “Good News” View Point
The working definition of “witchcraft” in this chief series
Witchcraft is rebellion (1 Sam. 15:23)—the use of false authority to manipulate, control, or dominate others, even if done in the name of God (Matt. 7:21–23).”

The Good News Position
The Bible speaks extensively about spiritual authority, victory over witchcraft, and fearless living in the face of demonic forces. Below are key Bible verses in the King James Version (KJV) that address these topics, along with insights on how the church has been given authority and our position as believers in heavenly places, far above all spiritual forces, including Satan.
1. Spiritual Authority and Overcoming Witchcraft:
-
Luke 10:19 (KJV): “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
-
This verse speaks directly to the authority given to the church—we are empowered to overcome the forces of darkness, including witchcraft, demonic powers, and spiritual attack.
-
-
Ephesians 6:12 (KJV): “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
-
We are not wrestling against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces. The forces of witchcraft, darkness, and evil exist in the spiritual realm, and as believers, we are positioned above them.
-
-
Matthew 16:18-19 (KJV): “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
-
Jesus gave the church authority to bind and loose in the heavenly realm. This speaks directly to the spiritual authority the church has over witchcraft and satanic forces.
-
2. Position in Heavenly Places – We Are Above Witchcraft and Satan
-
Ephesians 2:6 (KJV): “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”
-
As believers, we have been raised up with Christ and are seated in heavenly places, which places us far above all spiritual powers and witchcraft. This is our position in Christ.
-
-
Ephesians 1:20-22 (KJV): “Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church.”
-
Christ is seated far above all spiritual forces (including witchcraft, darkness, and powers), and as His body, the church is seated with Him in heavenly places, which means we are above these powers.
-
-
Colossians 2:15 (KJV): “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”
-
Christ has triumphed over all spiritual powers, including witchcraft and satanic forces, making a public spectacle of them. As Christ’s body, we share in His victory and authority
-
3. The Authority of the Church Over Witchcraft and Evil
-
Mark 16:17 (KJV): “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;”
-
The church, as believers in Christ, has been given authority to cast out demons and to overcome evil forces, including those that operate in witchcraft.
-
-
Luke 9:1-2 (KJV): “Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.”
-
Jesus gave His disciples power and authority over all demonic forces, including witchcraft. This authority has been passed on to the church through the Holy Spirit.
-
4. We Are Not to Be Fooled by Fear of Witchcraft
-
2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV): “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
-
Fear is not from God. We are not to be afraid of witchcraft, darkness, or evil spirits. We have been given a spirit of power, which means we can stand against these forces in Christ’s name.
-
-
Romans 8:37 (KJV): “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
-
We are more than conquerors through Christ. This means that no matter what witchcraft or evil forces come against us, we are victorious in Christ.
-
-
Psalm 91:7 (KJV): “A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.”
-
This psalm reminds us that God’s protection is over us, and no evil or witchcraft can harm us when we are walking in His truth and under His protection.
-
5. Understanding the Greek and Hebrew Terms
-
“Far Above” (Greek: hyperano):
-
In Ephesians 1:21, the Greek word hyperano means “far above” or “exceedingly above”, emphasizing the great distance between Christ and any spiritual power, including witchcraft. It stresses the absolute superiority of Christ’s authority over all things.
-
-
“Principalities and Powers” (Greek: arche and exousia):
-
In Ephesians 6:12, arche refers to rulers, and exousia refers to authorities. These terms describe the spiritual forces—including witchcraft—that work in the heavenly realms. However, as believers, we are above these powers, seated with Christ in heavenly places.
-
-
“Under Our Feet” (Hebrew: tachat):
-
Romans 16:20 speaks of Satan being under our feet. The Hebrew term tachat means “beneath” or “under”, symbolizing victory and dominance over Satan and his forces. The church has been given authority to trample on evil forces in the name of Jesus.
-
6. Zero Fear
As believers, we are not to be afraid of witchcraft, spiritual forces, or any evil powers. The Bible assures us that Christ has triumphed over these forces, and we, the church, share in that victory. Through Christ, we are seated in heavenly places, far above all powers, and Satan is under our feet.
Our Authority In Christ
Our authority in Christ means we are empowered to stand against witchcraft, spiritual oppression, and fear, knowing that God’s protection is always with us. We are more than conquerors and have authority to cast out demons and overcome every evil work of the enemy, walking in freedom, truth, and victory.
Let these 2 following verses be the foundation of your faith—fearless living, grounded in the power and authority that Christ has given His church.
“God has not given me the spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind” St Paul 2 Timothy 1:7
“The wisdom from above is first of all pure, peaceable, easily entreated, full of mercy and good fruit, without partiality and without hypocrisy”
James 3:17
Peace in the Kingdom “Fear not little flock”
“Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:32 KJV)
1. “Fear Not, Little Flock” Luke 12:32
Context and Assurance:
-
Jesus’ Reassurance: This verse is part of Jesus’ teaching to His disciples about trusting in God’s provision. It comes after He speaks about worrying over material needs like food and clothing. He encourages His followers not to be anxious or fearful about these things, because God knows what they need and will provide for them.
-
“Little Flock”: The term “little flock” highlights two things:
-
Humility: The disciples are not a powerful, influential group in the world’s eyes. They are a small, humble gathering. But even though they are a small flock, they are precious to God.
-
Intimacy and Care: The image of a flock emphasizes protection, guidance, and care from the Good Shepherd (Jesus). As part of this flock, the disciples are under God’s protection, and their well-being is His concern. Even in the face of trials, they are never alone.
-
Overcoming Fear:
-
Fear is a natural response to uncertainty, danger, or threats. But here, Jesus directly addresses fear and commands His disciples not to be afraid.
-
Fear can stem from worldly concerns, such as provision, safety, and acceptance.
-
Jesus assures the little flock that, even though they may face challenges or be seen as insignificant in the world’s eyes, they are valued by God.
-
-
“Fear not” is a command and a comfort. It’s not just a comforting statement but a call to trust God’s plan—a call to rest in the Father’s provision and care, knowing that He is the one in control, not circumstances or worldly powers.
2. “For It Is Your Father’s Good Pleasure to Give You the Kingdom”
God’s Good Pleasure:
-
Good Pleasure: This phrase shows God’s heart toward His people. It is His desire and joy to give His followers the kingdom. This is not something earned through effort or worthiness, but something God freely gives because of His grace and love.
-
Father’s Role: Jesus points to the Father’s role as provider and protector. God is not a distant, uncaring ruler but a loving Father who delights in His children and their welfare.
-
The Father’s good pleasure is also a promise of safety, provision, and spiritual authority in Christ. In the midst of earthly trials, Jesus invites us to remember that the Father’s heart toward His people is one of grace, generosity, and care.
-
God’s Kingdom:
-
The kingdom that God is pleased to give is eternal and spiritual, but it also has present-day implications. Believers are already citizens of this kingdom and have access to its benefits here and now, as well as the promise of its fullness in the future.
-
Eternal Security: The kingdom represents our eternal inheritance, which is secure in Christ. We are co-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17), and nothing can separate us from God’s love.
-
Authority in Christ: As part of God’s kingdom, we share in the authority of Christ. Just as Jesus triumphed over all spiritual powers (Ephesians 1:20-22), we too are given authority over spiritual forces through our union with Him.
-
Jesus’ Authority:
-
Jesus’ position is far above all other powers, and in Him, we are raised up to sit with Him in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6). This means that fear should not have a hold on us because we share in His victory over all forces of evil.
3. The Position of the Church: Seated with Christ in Heavenly Places
-
Ephesians 2:6 (KJV): “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”
-
This verse emphasizes the church’s position in Christ—we are seated with Him in heavenly places, far above all principalities, powers, and demonic forces. This position means that we have authority in the spiritual realm, not because of anything we’ve done, but because of Christ’s victory.
-
-
Position Over Fear:
The Bible consistently tells us that we are above all spiritual forces, including witchcraft and Satanic powers. Fear, which often comes from being overwhelmed by these powers, should be replaced by faith in the authority we have in Christ.-
Romans 8:37 (KJV): “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
-
1 John 4:4 (KJV): “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
-
4. We Have Power Over Fear and Witchcraft
-
2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV): “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
-
Fear is not from God. As believers, we have received power, love, and a sound mind, which are the antidotes to fear and manipulation, including the fear of witchcraft or any spiritual attack.
-
-
Victory Over Witchcraft:
Witchcraft thrives on fear and manipulation. By recognizing our position in Christ and our spiritual authority, we overcome witchcraft and spiritual forces that seek to control or enslave us. -
Luke 10:19 (KJV): “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
-
This is a direct command and promise from Jesus, affirming that no demonic force or witchcraft can have power over us because we have been given authority through His name.
-
5. We Are More Than Conquerors
-
Romans 8:37 (KJV): “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
-
This verse makes it clear that we are not just conquerors but more than conquerors through Christ. No matter what forces of evil come against us, we are victorious because of Christ’s love and authority.
-
6. Conclusion: Fear Not, Little Flock!
Jesus’ words in Luke 12:32 offer profound assurance and comfort to the church. We are part of God’s kingdom, given authority over all evil forces, and seated with Christ in heavenly places, far above all powers, including witchcraft and the forces of darkness. As we walk in this authority, we can live fearlessly, knowing that nothing can harm us apart from God’s will.
-
We are not to fear witchcraft, the enemy, or any spiritual force because we are empowered by God’s Spirit and seated with Christ in victory.
-
Jesus has given us authority to trample on serpents and scorpions (symbolizing demonic forces), and nothing shall by any means hurt us.
In light of this truth, fear has no place in the life of a believer. We are more than conquerors through Christ who loves us, and His perfect love casts out all fear (1 John 4:18).
