I. Introduction

In today’s polarized church climate, women in ministry—particularly those who are charismatic or high‑profile—often face public shaming, false accusations, and legalistic critique by critics who claim to uphold “biblical order.” Yet many of these critics ignore the very Scriptures they invoke, acting more like Pharisees than humble servants of Christ.

Part 4 examines how to uphold Ephesians 5’s teaching on mutual submission, guard against Pharisaical legalism, and protect women leaders from unjust attack.

II. Biblical Foundation: Ephesians 5’s Call to Mutual Submission

This Ephesians 5:21 “all mutually submitted” is that of Sheriff Andy Taylor or Mayberry, the old TV show, and how he (Andy) acts and reacts, relates to his Aunt Bea, his son, Opie, Second in command Deputy Barney Fife and all other town residents

Mutual submission (v.21): Christ‑like humility between all members, regardless of gender or office.
Wife’s submission (v.22): A willing, respectful support—in parallel to Christ’s headship.
Husband’s love (v.25): A self‑sacrificial, servant‑leadership model that protects and cherishes.

Key Principle: True submission never exists without protective, Christ‑like love. The two go hand in hand.

III. Equality in Christ: Galatians 3:28 & Romans 16’s Women Workers

“There is neither… male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”

“Greet… Mary, who bestowed much labour on us… Persis, who laboured much in the Lord… Tryphaena and Tryphosa… who laboured in the Lord… And I commend… Junia… who is of note among the apostles.”(Romans 16:6–7, KJV)

Galatians 3:28 lays the theological groundwork: in salvation and service, gender distinction does not determine value or gifting.
Romans 16 shows Paul lauding numerous women ministers (Mary, Persis, Tryphaena, Tryphosa, Junia), demonstrating early church gender inclusivity in ministry roles.

IV. Pharisaical Legalism vs. Ephesian Partnership

Pharisaical Patterns in Criticism of Women Leaders:

Selective Application of Scripture
- Citing “women must keep silent” (1 Tim 2:12) while ignoring Eph 5’s mutual submission and Rom 16’s women apostles.
Public “Call‑Outs” Without Due Process
- Bypassing Matthew 18’s private approach, labeling women “rebels” or “Jezebels” from afar.
Punishing the Wife, Ignoring the Husband
- Attacking a woman in ministry while her husband—her equal partner—is never questioned.
Prideful Superiority
- Assuming exclusive access to “truth,” mirroring Pharisee pride rather than Christlike humility.

V. Modern‑Day Applications

Case Studies: (Note the following three : this is NOT about their appearance, their Christian style, or theology or fame or money..Instead this is ALL ABOUT “Respect for the fellow human individual, who HAPPENS to be a “a recognized female leader.”

VI. Ministry Training: Upholding Ephesians 5 in Practice

Teach Mutual Submission
- Preach and model Ephesians 5:21 alongside 5:25—husbands submit in love; wives submit in respect.
Defend Women in Ministry
- Publicly affirm the biblical role of capable women leaders; correct any legalistic misapplications.
Follow Biblical Confrontation Protocol
- If you disagree with a sister in ministry, begin with private, humble conversation (Matt 18:15–16; Gal 6:1).
Examine Your Heart for Bias
- Pray through James 3:17—are you acting in purity, gentleness, and without partiality?
Model Servanthood, Not Control
- Authority in the church is servant‑based, not hierarchical domination (Mark 10:42–45).

VII. Conclusion & Call to Action

Jesus called us to a higher standard than Pharisaical legalism or sensational public critique. In an age of division, let us:

Uphold the whole counsel of Scripture—Ephesians 5’s partnership and Romans 16’s testimony of godly women.
Confront error in humility and love, never in pride or prejudice.
Protect the unity of the Spirit by honoring both men and women who serve Christ faithfully.
